Australians traveling abroad may use their passports as identification and proof of citizenship, which are issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Contact Australia Post to submit your passport application. Applications for which priority service is sought fall under this category.
Visit the Passports website for further details.
You can submit your application at a passport office in an emergency, but you must make an appointment by phoning the Australian Passport Office Call Center at (131) 232 first. You will be required to present proof of compassionate or compelling circumstances that call for the rapid issuance of a passport.
